AMBOLI

Amboli ghats, relatively unexplored and hence quite possibly mystic in its evergreen mossy environs is a place filled with thriving populations of unique flora and fauna. Cradled by the Sahyadri range and surrounded by dense exuberant forests and crystal clear waterfalls, the forest of Amboli is overflowing with plentiful small yet vibrant lives such as frogs, snakes and insects.

This Macro Photography Tour lets you let loose with your macro lens to help create stunningly detailed pictures of the intricate designs and patterns that are seldom obvious to the naked eye but beautifully captured. From endemic species such as the Amboli toad and Amboli bush-frog to the more famous Malabar gliding frogs, Dobson’s burrowing frog and more, we are bound to come across an assortment of these gentle creatures on our Tour. Snakes may include Malabar pit vipers, green vines, bronzeback tree snakes etc..

TOUR ITINERARY

Please note: This Tour commences at  Amboli on 18th August and ends at the same place after breakfast on 21st August

Arrive and check-in at the property in Amboli, followed by a mutual introduction and briefing by the skipper about the tour. After a delicious lunch, Sachin will spend time with the participants explaining the dos and dont’s on the walks and will have a detailed session on frogs of Amboli. We will then get ready for the most awaited and exciting activity, the first night walk! To explore the rich biodiversity of Amboli Ghats.

We wake up in the morning, have our breakfast and depart for our morning session. This will be a long session understanding macro photography and how to work with the subjects and background. Amboli provides lot of photo opportunities for a macro photographer.

After a long walk and a productive session, we will come back to the property for lunch and relax for a few hours.

Another the local delicious lunch, we will proceed for our second night walk. The previous days night walk would have helped us understand the night life better and you would soon start spotting subjects on your own. Armed with torch lights, we will be walking in the night looking for anything that will help us understand about the forests and the denizens of the forest and if possible document it too.

We will come back for dinner after yet another productive night walk and call it a night.

Post breakfast, we will walk around to a close by stream to see if we can get some slow shutter speed shots of the stream with some steady subjects. Today, we will repeat what we did the previous day. Equipped with more information and knowledge on how to use lights, angle and depth of field in macro photography, you will be able to spend time practicing and improving your images that you had made the previous day.

We will come back to the property for a hot lunch and then again relax for a few hours before we depart for our last night walk. Our night walks wont necessarily be only about photography, but it will be lot of learning and will sure be educational as well.

We wake up at leisure, have hot breakfast and discuss about the learnings one last time before we leave for our rooms to pack up.

Making new friends and memories we bid adieu to the enchanting ‘Amboli’ until next time.
